Double Cleansing, Half the Trouble

What is Double Cleansing?

Double cleansing refers to a routine which includes first an oil-based cleanser, then a water-based one, followed by a skincare regime. The first cleanser dissolves oil-based makeup as well as excess sebum from the surface of our skin, whereas the second step is there to remove the first cleanser mixed with oil-based products and dirt. This ensures a thorough cleanse, which is great for those struggling with clogged pores. Additionally, products applied afterwards can absorb better, as the pores aren’t already filled with excess makeup or oil.

=> Triple Cleansing is another lesser-known alternative. This usually consists of a cleansing cloth or micellar water followed by a double cleansing routine. Although this ensures an even deeper cleanse, it isn’t always necessary. In fact, it can also cause unnecessary and avoidable irritation, which in cases of already sensitive skin, may be a deal-breaker.
